Can you choose to "opt out" of a homeowner's association - and its rules?

Nope, you can't opt out and that is exactly why I would NEVER buy a home with a HOA. I don't need to live where a bunch of people walking around with rods up their asses and trying to tell me what to do with my home. F*** that!
